About

Here at Cooker Base, we have been searching for the best cookers and kitchen appliances since 2017.

It all began with a kitchen renovation and a long, drawn out search to find the perfect cooker. Due to the lack of quality reviews the entire process took far too long. So, we took it upon ourselves to create a site that offered in-depth and independent advice for other potential consumers.

Now, we analyse customer reviews, personally test small kitchen appliances and find the best prices at the most trusted online stores. All with the simple aim of ensuring your purchase provides value for many years to come.

The Mission

  • To identify the best cookers and cooking implements available in the UK.
  • To curate articles that are free from jargon and present the pros and cons of each item so you can make an informed choice.
  • To seek out the best prices at the most trusted retailers.
  • To save your precious time when searching for durable and great value cookers.

Cooker Base Team

The Cooker Base team is just two people with the site being owned by OLM Content. Some may say they are the perfect duo.

There’s Brenden, the researcher and online specialist. He looks for the cookers and appliances, checking up on customer experiences, reading trade magazines to discover the latest trends and looking for new releases. With this information he creates shortlists of the best products in preparation for discussing and debating with trusted author Tim.

Brenden is a keen home cook with a love of BBQ, soul food and hearty British favourites. During the summer you will find him in the garden smoking ribs, drinking the occasional beer and cooking for his friends. He is the household chef so having a top-quality cooker (he prefers a dual fuel cooker and has a Smeg Concert SUK62MX8 60cm with an electric oven and gas hobs) and quality implements is a must.

Then there’s Tim W Shaw. Tim works with Brenden to hone his lists and turn them into easy-to-understand write ups ready to go live on Cooker Base. He works full time as a content writer and has experience reviewing a variety of products for a number of online publications. He ensures that only the most up to date information is on offer whilst offering valuable insight based on his own personal experiences.

Tim is also a keen cook who loves Japanese food, sushi in particular, has dabbled with veganism and has the appetite of two people. Due to having a young family he has to be pretty flexible in the kitchen. There’s plenty of challenges involved when cooking for fussy children whilst trying to ensure you still eat well yourself. He uses this insight to provide further detail when reviewing cookers large and small, identifying their safety and suitability for the family home.

Whilst Brenden and Tim would love to personally buy every cooker and try them personally, the vast expense and space requirements mean this is not possible. To make up for that, their response is to research harder than everyone else to find the best. For smaller items, these are purchased and personally tested all whilst comparing to the experiences of other customers.

The Partners

Cooker Base have carefully selected a small group of well-established retailers who offer not only fair prices but have a reputation that means you can trust them. Our favourite retailers and those you will find featured on Cooker Base are:

Currys

Currys, also known as Currys PC World, are a well know British high street retailer specialising in home appliances and electronics. Their online store includes one of, if not, the largest collections of cookers anywhere, including a number of budget brands exclusive to them.

AO.com

A relative newcomer compared to some, ao.com started in the year 2000 and has become synonymous with online shopping for cookers, white goods and electricals. As on online specialist they provide excellent supporting information, free home delivery on many items and additional installation/ removal services.

Hughes

Hughes is another well know brand from the British high street that has been in business for over 100 years. They offer a broad selection of cookers and some of the best prices on microwave ovens. However, their cooker prices are a little higher than most so we only include them when they offer a better price than elsewhere or offer an exclusive product.

Appliances Direct

There’s one stand out reason to buy from Appliances direct and that is their prices. With no high street presence their aim is to sell cookers at the lowest possible price point. Whilst they don’t have the widest selection, we will always refer to them if they offer the best deal to Cooker Base readers.

Amazon

Amazon are not the ideal place to buy a cooker but are an excellent option for cleaning products, pots & pans and other accessories. With a little searching you will not only find the best price but you can also get them delivered quickly and for free as part of your Amazon Prime membership.

Whilst we always aim to keep the site up to date occasionally products get discontinued at short notice. If you ever require any support feel free to reach out to us on the contact page.
